Hyundai Motor Group has begun their open call for the fourth edition of the VH Award for Asia’s emerging media artists.
The VH Award was created in 2016 to discover and cultivate promising media artists in Korea. Now in its fourth year, the award has been extended to include all Asian artists whose work engages with the context of Asia and its future. Taking the leap forward to become the continent’s leading award for media artists, the VH Award supports young talent around the world, serving as a launching point for these artists to achieve their international goals.
A group of international jurors including renowned curators and directors such as Sook-Kyung Lee (Senior Curator, International Art (Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational) Tate Modern), Christopher Phillips (Independent Curator & Critic), Roderick Schrock (Curator, Executive Director of Eyebeam), Aaron Seeto (Director, Museum MACAN), June Yap (Director, Curatorial, Collections and programmes, Singapore Art Museum), will participate in the selection process and support the winning artists.
Five shortlisted artists will each receive a grant of $25,000 (USD) for the production of their selected artwork. In addition, selected artists will also be invited to participate in the online residency programs led by the networked artists and curators at Eyebeam, the prominent not-for-profit art and technology center based in New York City
The final Grand Prix will be announced during an award ceremony in October 2021 with the grant of an additional $25,000 (USD), and all the awarded works will be exhibited on various global platforms.
The call for entries closes at 10am EST on March 18, 2021 (midnight on March 19 KST). Applicants must submit the required materials online only through the official website at vhaward.com.
